Science and Resource Managers Forum | Hervey Bay, 19 - 20 February
More than 120 land managers and scientists will descend on Hervey Bay for the Farmland to Fraser – Resource Managers and Science Symposium on 19-20 February.  Hosted by the Burnett Mary Regional Group for Natural Resource Management, the Symposium will showcase the latest science, information and technology on offer in the Burnett Mary region.  The two day program will include local experts, keynote speakers, interactive workshops, and a field trip to local farms demonstrating the practical applications of science in water quality and recycling.  More than 30 speakers will present on topics including sustainable agriculture, water quality, weeds and feral animal control, cultural heritage and community engagement.
Wetlands.edu
Wetlands.edu is a national wetland management skills program designed to provide capacity building and training in wetland-related assessment, planning and actions. It is aimed primarily at regional natural resource management and catchment bodies and their stakeholders, including Landcare groups, local governments and private landholders. Shorebird Conservation Toolkit
WWF Australia has recently launched a national Shorebird Conservation Toolkit to help protect and enhance shorebird habitat across Australia.  The toolkit builds on the success of the national Shorebird Conservation Project (2001-2005), drawing from 31 on-ground and community-driven shorebird conservation projects.The toolkit is a comprehensive resource that will enable users to: understand and appreciate shorebirds, their habitat and conservation needs; locate important shorebird sites in Australia and access population estimates; develop site survey and monitoring programs; identify and assess site management needs, and implement/evaluate management actions;  and identify and advocate international and national conservation options  The toolkit is available online at www.shorebirds.org.au or by contacting Bianca Priest, 03 6225 1394 or bpriest@wwf.org.au.
